The skateboarding world's memory model is one of the most useful and effective models
out there. If you think about it, every trick you do is actually
the product of the delusional imagination of some skater or another. Or rather some Rodney Mullen or another, just... (Although this guy is really responsible for almost everything that belongs to the platform...)
In general, it's not just about attaching the skater's name to a trick, but also attaching it to a particular spot that was captured, and of course what happens to the skate itself in the trick (like a flip, for example).
If you haven't noticed, skateboarding jargon consists of a collection of bizarre names and silly and concise word combinations like: "... I did a cabalrail in London, bro..." or "... I put Smith on his ledge, bro..." It's simply people's names or alternatively condensed summaries of definitions...
In general, there are plenty of explanations for all kinds of tricks such as:
- Evely - the trick already discussed here in another article was invented by Alan Gelfand...
- McTwist - a 540 invented by Mike McGill (1984).
- Burley Grade - maybe a 180 for Smith with the noose or phone number data a Smith switch, first performed by the legendary Donnie Burley.
- Smith Grind - Originally a "Smith Stool" that over the years became a grind... done by Mike Smith in the late 1970s as a rest step in the run before a bigger trick.
- Cavalier - A fake 180 and another 180 back to a fake (on the flat), invented and first performed by Steve Cavalero in Wert and officially continued by Moran Hassa in Galit's flat (Respect).
- Primo - Standing on the side of the skate on the wheels , the brave can also skate, a fucking treacherous trick. I tried it for hours and all I ate was shish, invented by Primo Desiderio.
- " Mongo " - This is not exactly the name of a trick, but it refers to a skater who leaves his back foot on the skate and pushes with his front foot... It's worth knowing this...
- Noli - Nos + aveli... Like dah?!?
- Volley - Vol + aveli... Like dah dah?!?
- Pelvi - (Pikee Evely) The very old way of saying Switz Evely, I wonder who understands me
In any case, the list is very long and will never end. Skateboard tricks come and go according to trends and fashion. Some are identified with the old generation and some are identified with the new generation that continues to improve what is already there...
The question is whether it is possible to translate the tricks and give them names in Hebrew in order to maintain a Zionist tone in the Land of Israel (here I have become heavy again...), as if an Evli Impossible would be an "impossible jump" or a Noli Hill Flip would be a "heel-turning nose jump" (DAMMN, that sounds bad), a Fiftie Fifty Grind would be a "half-grind", and finally - a Flip to Backside Tail Slide Fake Out would be a "tail-slide rotation jump with your back turned like this... well.."
